[edit] Mission

The Institute for Wisconsin's Future has a mission to:

1. Inform Wisconsin residents about issues and policies that affect their lives;
2. Encourage broader citizen involvement in public policy debates and decision making; and
3. Provide a progressive voice in debates on policies that impact working families in the state.

In order to increase public awareness of and involvement in state policy decisions, IWF works to produce and disseminate analyses of key public policy issues and coordinate community education campaigns to inform the public about critical issues. ยป Learn more about IWF's projects.

[edit] History

IWF was established in 1994 by a broad coalition of concerned citizens, labor organizations, academics, professionals, religious leaders, and advocacy groups. Founding organizations include the Wisconsin State AFL-CIO, the Wisconsin Education Association Council, the Wisconsin Conference of Churches, and the Wisconsin Council on Children and Families.

Major funding for IWF comes from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation and the Ford Foundation. Other foundations, labor unions, and individual donations also support IWF.
