[edit] Mission

As with all the cities involved in the Making Connections Initiative, the main goal is to form alliances that will strengthen families and neighborhoods, providing them with access to opportunities, resources, and the support they need to raise healthy, confident children poised for success.

Where is the Initiative in Milwaukee?

  • In Milwaukee, the Making Connections Initiative is focused on seven neighborhoods. Specifically, the Initiative is focused on the area bounded by Center Street on the north, Highland Avenue on the south, 24th Street on the east, and 47th Street on the west. (see Map -- NOTE: opens a new window) This target area was selected because while the present economic and social indicators are not high, the area is asset rich in both organizational and social assets. The challenge is to leverage these assets for the benefit of all residents, with the specific aim of improving life for future generations.
